Booth Design: Bringing Your Business to Life in the Aisle

Oct. 27, 2026 | The Art of the Booth, Booths

A visitor doesn’t just read a booth. They look at it, take it in, and then decide whether to stop by or walk on by. Booth design is the art of giving them a reason to stop. Not by adding more items, but by telling a story.

That’s why, at ENJOY, we always start with your business to create the scene. Artwork, set design, printing, lighting—we do it all in-house, and everything serves the same story. Here’s how it works.

What exactly is booth design?

Exhibit design is the art of staging your space. It determines what visitors see first, what they discover next, and what they take away with them when they leave. Colors, materials, lighting, spatial volumes, and the visitor journey all play a part in this.

That doesn’t mean it’s the same as decoration, though. Decoration embellishes, while set design tells a story. And a booth that tells a story leaves a much stronger impression than one that’s simply pretty.

Start with a scene, not a catalog

Generally speaking, the common approach is to line up the products and hope that visitors will make the connection. Good booth design, on the other hand, starts with a scene: a moment when your product truly comes into its own.

For an equipment manufacturer, it’s the service call. For a winemaker, it’s a tasting with friends. And for a bicycle brand, it’s the road. Once you’ve identified the scene, every element of the booth serves to bring it to life, and visitors understand what you do at a glance.

The setting is also a matter of tone. Spectacular for an action-oriented brand, intimate for a winery, precise for a manufacturing company. The right setting is one that reflects your customers, not one that impresses your competitors.

Four booth designs by ENJOY

Every profession, then, calls for its own setting. Here are four booths where the decor tells a story even before a word is spoken.

Dräger: Live Coverage

At the Mondial Secours & Protection trade show in La Roche-sur-Foron, Dräger showcased its products to emergency response professionals. First, a band of flames ran across the entire front of the booth. Next, fully equipped mannequins greeted visitors in the midst of action, beneath four light boxes that made the booth visible from all aisles. See Dräger’s display.

Here it comes: a tram in the middle of the lobby

As for Arrive, at the Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026 trade show, the brand is focusing on mobility. A tram-shaped structure houses two interaction areas beneath a giant, eye-catching LED sphere. From a driving simulator to an interactive bike that lights up the Arrive star to a phone booth, visitors don’t just observe mobility—they experience it. See the Arrive installation.

Montréal Original: A Plant-Based Booth Design

At Vapexpo Paris, Montréal Original immerses visitors in a setting entirely made up of plants. In the center, a sculpted tree spreads its branches beneath a circular sign adorned with foliage, visible from afar. Green walls, wooden trellises, and a central counter come together to create an open space that invites visitors to linger. See the Montréal Original installation.

VDLV Cirkus: Festive Booth Design

For Vapexpo 2025, we brought to life Cirkus by VDLV’s “Vaping Is a Party” theme, in collaboration with the agency La Ruelle. Bold graphics, LEDs, and vibrant colors adorn the main booth. Next to it, “the box” offers an immersive experience featuring interactive games, screens, and playful lighting. See the VDLV Cirkus project.

Four professions, four scenes. Yet they all share one thing in common: a powerful idea that visitors grasp even before reading a single word.

The Four Key Elements of a Stand Design That Makes an Impact

Light

It draws the eye first and foremost. In fact, a light box, a backlit banner, or a featured product is all it takes to create a focal point. At our company, our entire lighting inventory is 100% LED.

Printed patterns

For its part, a large graphic sets the mood in an instant. We print it in our workshop using water-based, solvent-free inks.

Objects in Context

For example, a mannequin wearing the product, a machine in operation, a product in use: visitors see the product in action, not just sitting there.

The Course

Finally, visitors should be able to move through the space. The entrance, the center of the booth, and the interaction area flow naturally into one another. To learn more, read our 7 tips for standing out at a trade show.

A set design that can be assembled, disassembled, and reassembled

That said, spectacular doesn’t mean disposable. Our modular aluminum structures can be reused from one trade show to the next, and the graphics can be changed without having to rebuild everything from scratch. The booth design evolves, but the foundation remains the same.

In addition, before production begins, everything is checked on a 3D mockup: viewing angles, heights, and visibility from the aisle. That way, by the day of the setup, the scene has already been rehearsed.

A visitor might forget a point you made. But they’ll remember what they saw at your place.
